Geopetrol International started its activities in India in 1995 through the acquisition of participations in the Kharsang Block (25%) and in the Joint venture GeoEnpro Petroleum Limited (50%), a private Indian Company, holding 10% of the field and being the field Operator.
This field, located in the Assam Region, in North-east India, is now producing 1,800 barrels of oil per day after a successful development program of 14 wells drilled in 2008 and 2009. An additional drilling campaign should increase the production level up to 2,800 bopd.
The exploration Block (MZ ONN 2004/2) in the Mizoram Region was awarded in November 2006 (under NELP VI) to a consortium including Geopetrol International (10 %), with Reliance Natural Resources Ltd. (80 %) and Naftogas (10 %) as Operator. The area of the block is around 3,620 km2.
In November 2006, 4 CBM (Coal Bed Methane) blocks (2 650 km2 area) were awarded to Geopetrol International (10 %) as Operator, with Reliance Natural Resources Ltd. (90 %) as a partner. They are located in the provinces of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and in the Andhra Pradesh area. An exploration campaign is in progress, in order to evaluate the potential of these blocks.
